c.life on earth is important in its own right." This idea came about primarily because Humanists were disillusioned with the idea that all of man's efforts had to be focused on the afterlife and not the present.

Humanists believe that life on earth is important in its own right. Option B.

Humanists believe that human experience and rational thinking provide the only source of both knowledge and a moral code to live by.  We don't need religion to respect life and be good people, life is important anyway. Humanism is a progressive lifestance that, without theism or other supernatural beliefs, affirms our responsibility as well as ability to lead meaningful, ethical lives capable of adding to the greater good of humanity.
