Compare and contrast mitosis and meiosis. Be sure to include at least two similarities and three differences.

Respuesta :

1. meiosis require two nuclear division but mitosis requires only one nuclear division
2. meiosis produces four daughter divisions, and there are four daughters cell following cytokinesis. Mitosis followed by cytokinesis result in two daughter cells
3. in meiosis, the four daughter cells are haploid and have half the chromosome number as the parent cell. In mitosis, the daughter cell have the same chromosome number as the parent cell
4. in meiosis the daughter are genetically dissimilar to each other and to parent but in mitosis, the daughter cells are genetically identical to each other and to the parent.

Below are the differences between mitosis and meiosis due to their event@stagef

1. During meiosis I, tetrad form and crossing over occurs during prophase I. These events do not occur during mitosis
2. During metaphase I of meiosis, tetrads align at the spindle equator. The paired chromosomes have a total of four chromatids each. In mitosis, dyads align at the spindle equator

Actually, the events of meiosis II are just like those of mitosis except that in meosis II , the cells have the haploidnumbers of chromosome.

this is the answer on e2020: Mitosis results in cells that are identical to the parent, whereas in meiosis, the daughter cells are gametes with half the genetic material as the parent. In meiosis, cells undergo two rounds of division. In mitosis, they go through one.Mitosis is the driving mechanism in asexual reproduction, whereas, meiosis produces gametes for sexual reproduction.
