Food is essential to our body to:
- Developing, replacing and repairing cells and tissues;
- Produce the energy used to avoid cold, move and work;
- Carry out chemical processes such as digestion of food;
-Protect, resist and fight infection and cure illness.
The food is made up of nutrients. Micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals are only needed in small quantities. Macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins and fats are needed in larger quantities. The body can not function properly if one or more nutrients are missing. A healthy and balanced diet brings a good amount and a variety of foods, healthy and free of diseases and dangerous substances.
