The tree is finally killed by pulling out of the mother
earth when the roots are exposed to sunlight & air
the tree begins to get scorched & choked. It then
started withering.

- In the poem "On Killing A Tree", to kill a tree, one has to uproot it and violently remove it from the very source of its life-sustaining force, which lies deep down in the bowels of the earth.
- The tree will then remain ruthlessly stripped of its vitality and its dignity.
- Once uprooted, the sun and the air burn, dry and stifle the tree as it were the life-giving sap, leaving the tree brown, hard, gnarled and shrivelled up, devoid of life and beauty.
- This finally kills the tree.
