Read the passage. Think about the audio clip that you
heard. Compare and contrast the mediums,
modalities, and formats of the recording and the
passage and explain how they impact your
understanding of the ideas in the speech.
While the ideas are the same in both audio and the transcript, the modality is different- the recording is meant to be heard, while the written speech is visual. The written transcript allows me to look more closely at the words, while the audio gives me the chance to listen to the emotions conveyed by the speaker.
Roosevelt mentions that that amendment made by the Soviets were rejected after “exhaustive” shows that the amendments were taken seriously, but still not approved. She wants the committee to move on from the amendments and vote on the declaration.
