What does the slope of the graph tell us in this situation?
A) It tells us that there is a fixed cost of approximately $35
for ordering hats.
B) It tells us the amount that the cost increases for each
additional hat ordered.

C) It tells us that when 9 hats are ordered, the total cost is
approximately $160.

Answer:

I would say B...the cost increase for each additional hat......A. would also be partially true, because 1 hat is $35 dollars, but you pay less per hat when you buy more than one, otherwise the cost of 10 hats would be over $300.... C is also true, 9 hats is $160, but that is shown by the graph, the questions is referring to what the slope of the graph shows, not one specific point on the graph ....so I'd say B answers this specific question more accurately...and D is also partially true, because 10 hats here, is $175, but the cost of each hat is less with the more hats you buy, so if you were to buy 10 more hats and add that to the graph the next 10 would not be another $175 for a total of $350...it'd be slightly cheaper because you've ordered 20 instead of 10 and the individual cost would continue to decrease.. so although all these answers are at least partially true, I would go with B, because it answers the question most accurately regarding the slope of the line and not just the graph or price ....
