The most obvious function of myth is the explanation of facts, whether natural or cultural. The most highlighted advantage of myths in progress of an individual is that these myths and their mythological characters are used to explain moral concepts to the young generations so that they can move forward on a moral path.

Myth can be defined as a traditional folklore. It consist of narratives that play a fundamental role in a society, such as foundational tales or origin myths.

Mythological characters are such as deities, heroes, and fanciful creatures.

The discovery and subsequent colonization of the America gave rise to surprising, multifaceted encounters between the Old and New Worlds. Long processes of cross-cultural communication were held in which both sides participated equally. These encounters brought about an inevitable culture change, more striking in the case of the indigenous world, but significant also in the case of the Europeans. The violent clash of two very advanced civilizations, which had not been in any form of communication before, was followed by a prolonged and uninterrupted process of interaction and exchange.
