I think it should not be built because Baker and Pascua rivers will flood 5900 hectares of land in order to generate hydroelectric power.
Patagonia's rugged and varied ecosystem of wilderness,traditional culture and tourism industry will be at great risk as silt will not be carried down the rivers.
At many places the Dam area passes through protected area of Chile which will be totally damaged if the proposed dam is constructed.
Many people say that this project will benefit copper mining industry and they believe that this project will benefit businesses not the people of Chile.
As an alternative Chile government could use renewable energy like solar energy,wind energy and tidal energy to generate electricity.Chile government has not started to tap its rich renewable energy possibilities like many other countries in the world.
