in which there occur an upper small rectangle of l = 12cm and breadth = 9 cm and a big rectangle of L 20cm and B= 9cm
area of 1st rectangle= l*b = 12 * 9 = 108 cm^2
area of 2nd rectangle = L*B = 20 * 9 = 180 cm ^ 2
area of complete figure in 1st way = area of 1st rectangle + area of 2nd rectangle
= 108 + 180 = 288 cm^2
In second case we are dividing the figure vertically
in which there occur an small rectangle of l = 8cm and breadth = 9 cm and a big rectangle of L =18cm and B= 12cm
area of 1st rectangle= l*b = 8 * 9 = 72 cm^2
area of 2nd rectangle = L*B = 18 * 12= 216 cm ^ 2
area of complete figure in 2nd way = area of 1st rectangle + area of 2nd rectangle
= 72 + 216 = 288cm^2
