Most people think the frontier was a bunch of people traveling west, with blue skies and sunny weather. Coming across wild Indian hunting parties, easily building log cabins and shooting plenty of big animals for food. Really, half of those traveling west never made it and a half of those who made it didn´t live long after arriving because of diseases and lack of food. Most of the animals that were brought along were eaten by wild animals or stolen by Indians. The weather didn´t cooperate with farming all the time and many times crops were destroyed by snow, rain, or hail
