The state fair is a popular field trip destination. This year the senior class at High School A and the senior class at High School B both planned trips there. The senior class at High School A rented and filled 8 vans and 8 busses with 240students. High School B rented and filled 4 vans and 1 bus with 545 students. Every van had the same number of students in it. Every bus had the same number of students in it. Find the number of students in each van and in each bus.

8a+8b=240

4a+b=54   => b=54-4a

8a+8(54-4a)=240

8a+432-32a=240

432-240=32a-8a

192=24a

a=192/24=8 students in each van

b=54-4*8=54-32=22 students in each bus
