AB: "Alexander?"
AH: "Aaron Burr, sir."
AB: "Why, it's the middle of the night."
AH: "Can we confer, sir?"
AB: "Is this a legal matter?"
AH: "Yes, and it's important to me."
AB: "What do you need?"
AH: "Burr, you're a better lawyer than me."
AB: "Okay."
AH: "I know I talk too much, I'm abrasive. You're incredible in court- you're succinct, persuasive. My client needs a strong defense- you're the solution."
AB: "Who's your client?"
"The new US Constitution?"
AB: "No."
"Hear me out!"
AB: "No way!"
"A series or essays, anonymously published, defending the document to the public."
AB: "No one will read it."
"I disagree."
AB: "And if it fails?"
"Burr, that's why we need it!"
AB: "The Constitution's a mess!"
"So it needs amendments."
AB: "It's full of contradictions!"
"So is independence! We have to start somewhere."
AB: "No. No way."
"You're making a mistake."
AB: "Goodnight!"
"Hey! What are you waiting for? What do you stall for?"
AB: "What?"
"We won the war. What was it all for? Do you support this Constitution?"
AB: "Of course."
"Then defend it!"
AB: "And what if you're backing the wrong horse?"
"Burr, we studied and we fought and we killed for the notion of a nation we now get to build. For once in your life, take a stand with pride. I don't understand how you stand to the side!"

What does this interaction between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr in "Non-Stop" from Lin-Manuel Miranda's "Hamilton" tell you about Aaron Burr's character?

Respuesta :

I would say it shows a great deal of respect for each other but above anything else, Burr respects his reputation and Burr knows that there’s a possibility of backfire and doesn’t want this blamed on him. Aaron Burr was always a very cautious man and never really fully supported one thing publicly knowing that he could’ve gotten backlash for it.
