In the first direct detection of gravitational waves by LIGO, the waves came from the merger of two black holes.

What is a Wave?

This is defined as propagation of disturbances from place to place in an organized manner.

In 2015,  Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory(LIGO) observed gravitational waves which was a result of merger of two black holes and lasted fraction of a second.
