1. • Close your eyes for just a minute and picture yourself ten years from now. Picture the house you live in, the car you drive, the clothes you're wearing and the job you have. Picture yourself successful in your chosen field. Write down what you envision. Throughout your life, it is very important to write down your goals.

2. What would it take to move out on your own? You are going to create a budget. List all of the things you will need to pay for on a monthly basis. Tell them they will be living alone and must support themselves. List everything - from utilities and car payments to manicures and gym membership.

3. In today's dollars, estimate how much it would cost to pay for the items.

4. After listing the monthly expenses, add up the monthly totals and then multiply by 12. Note that these numbers don't include the taxes you will also have to pay.


5. Compare totals to the annual pay for a minimum wage worker who works full-time and the potential salary you will earn in the career of your choice.

6. Will you be within your budget if you have the job you plan? How can you stay within your budget?
