A malignant tumor of bone marrow cells associated with high levels of one of the immunoglobulins, usually IgG, is called multiple myeloma.
The monoclonal immunoglobulins released by the malignant cells of plasma are IgG and IgA which are around 55% and 20% respectively. In 25 to 30 percent of patients, the plasma cells discharge Bence Jones protein which is monoclonal kappa (κ) or lambda (λ) light chains in the urine. IgD myeloma represents around 1% of cases and is more regular among the patients of Asian provision. Monoclonal light chains in a significant number of these previously purported nonsecretory patients.
