As the Amygdala is remarkably close to and forms connections with the Hippocampus (The memory structure of the brain) these tow often work together to make memories more memorable.

Because of its role in processing emotional information the amygdala is also involved in memory consolidation" the process of transferring new learning into long term memory. it seems to facilitate encoding memories deeper level when the even is emotionally arousing .

The medical temporal lobe cortex includes major subdivisions such as the Hippocampus and the entorhinal cortex. the five cm long hippocampus divides into a head, body and a tail.
