Suburbanization is the shift of large segments of the population away from the urban core and toward the edges of cities.

What is Suburbanization?

The expansion of places outside of big cities is referred to as "suburbanization." One of the numerous reasons of urban sprawl is the abrupt and severe transfer of people from metropolitan areas to the suburbs, as the suburbs expand to accommodate the growing population. Many suburban dwellers continue to commute to work in the downtown area, preferring to live there instead.

Numerous elements, which are often divided into push and pull forces, contribute to suburbanization. People are pushed out of their initial residences in metropolitan areas and into suburbs by push factors. Pull factors are what attract individuals, in particular, to suburbs.
