Talk radio listeners, cable news viewers (like those of Fox or msnbc), and readers of ideological blogs are more likely to "gain more political knowledge, yet accept erroneous or partial representations of reality."

A recent New York Times article argues that both news networks are guilty of political reporting using instances of news coverage on Fox News and MSNBC. According to a Pew Research study cited in the piece, only 6% of Fox News reports about Mr. Obama from the end of August to the end of October were favourable, while 46% were unfavourable. The same Pew Study revealed that only 3% of the time Romney received favourable publicity on MSNBC.

The bias of Fox News and MSNBC has been proven, but wasn't that something we already knew? I think Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow take great satisfaction in providing accurate information on MSNBC. Do they have a liberal bent when covering stories? Oh, yes. Do Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow purposefully mislead their audiences in order to advance an ideological narrative? However, I'm not sure if the same could be said of Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. I believe it is a bridge too far.
