  • Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by abnormal cell growth and the ability to invade or spread to other parts of the body. These differ from benign tumors, which do not spread.
  • New cells replace old ones when they die as a result of aging or damage. Occasionally, this systematic process fails, causing damaged or aberrant cells to proliferate when they shouldn't. Tumors, which are tissue masses, can develop from these cells. Tumors may or may not be malignant (benign)
  • A cancer can spread to or push on nearby organs, blood vessels, and nerves. Some of the signs and symptoms of cancer are caused by this pressure. Symptoms of cancer may include fever, extreme tiredness (fatigue), or weight loss. This could be because cancer cells consume a large portion of the body's energy supply.
