If a bleb on a lung tissue ruptures and air accumulates in the plural space than it results to primary spontaneous pneumothorax.

A pulmonary bleb is a small collection of air between the lung and the outer surface of the lung (visceral pleura) which is usually found in the upper lobe of the lung. When a bleb ruptures than the air escapes into the chest cavity causing a pneumothorax  which can result in a collapsed lung.

Symptoms of pneumothorax are sharp, stabbing chest pain that worsens when trying to breath in, shortness of breath, bluish skin caused by a lack of oxygen, fatigue, rapid breathing and heartbeat, etc.
