According to George Herbert's Mead, when children enter the Play Stage of development, they initiate role-playing and take on the role of the most influential individuals in their lives.
It is the second of three stages of childhood socialization which begins at almost age three as an evolution from the Preparatory Stage as stated by George. This is a very crucial stage as during this, the kids become conscious of patterns of behaviors practiced by their noteworthy others.
Other childhood stages of development include the Preparatory Stage around the age of 8-11 and the Game Stage around age 7 and up.
