elation of certain infrared bands to cellulose crystallinity and crystal latticed type. Part I. Spectra of lattice types I, II, III and of amorphous cellulose

Respuesta :

Relation of certain infrared bands to cellulose crystallinity and crystal latticed type:

  • The effectiveness of alkali in removing the cross-linking agent was examined by surface analysis (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, XPS), attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and solubility in particular solvents on cotton fabrics treated with 1,2,3,4-butane tetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) for increasing time periods.
  • Following chemical "stripping" operations, the yield of cellulose was calculated, and the impact of alkali treatments on the level of polymerization of the resulting cellulose was assessed.
  • A commercially feasible yield of cellulose was obtained and the BTCA was effectively removed from the cotton fabric treated with crease resist, according to surface studies and solubility tests.
