Privacy and boundaries of a certain extent are essential and need to be drawn for the mental well being of all individuals. As children grow up, certain issues often surface as they start creating boundaries and express a greater need for privacy.
As children transition from infancy to adulthood, there is lesser dependency and they crave to be self dependent and take decisions for themselves which are often creates tension with their caregivers.
Children in this stage might have certain problems or issues that are private and which they would not like to discuss. Parents on the other hand also create certain rules regarding privacy issues and boundaries which are expressed through family privacy rules.
