Scientists have discovered that there are dramatic changes in local patterns within the brains of children in the 3- to 15-year age range.

The brain of an infant develops very rapidly and continues developing till adulthood. The early development of the brain lays a foundation for future learning, health and life success. The development of the brain in children depends on genetic factors, right nutrition and environment.

The amount of gray matter went downhill from about age 3 years. Neurons in this gray matter do not form permanent connections. A fibre network called corpus callosum, that connects the two hemispheres, indicates the level of activity in the brain.

Under the age of 6 years, the frontal lobe undergoes rapid growth. The frontal lobe is involved in planning and organizing the actions. However, after the age of age, the gray matter shifts to the temporal and parietal lobes which play a significant role in language skills. This ability falls off after the age of 12. Gray matter shifts to the front part of the brain after 12.

Given above are the dramatic changes in the development of the brain that scientists discovered in the children of age 3 to 15.
