The Hebrew human beings would obey the Ten Commandments. The covenant between God and Jews is the foundation for the thinking of the Jews as the chosen people.
The first covenant used to be between God and Abraham. Jewish guys are circumcised as a image of this covenant. You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a signal of the covenant between me and you.
The Sabbath, the rainbow, and circumcision are the "signs" of the three notable covenants hooked up by using God at the three indispensable degrees of history: the Creation (Gen 1:1–2:3; Exod 31:16–17), the renewal of humankind after the Flood (Gen 9:1–17), and the opening of the Hebrew nation.
