A balance is used to measure
the mass of a package being mailed. The weight of an object being mailed
is measure by balancing the force cause by the gravity against the
force on a spring. This balance is called a spring balance. A balance
beam could also be used by balancing the weight of an actual object
against the weight of a known mass.
