Respuesta :

Fourier Transform techniques using an interferometer not used in UV-Vis spectroscopy because UV-Vis spectral regions require  high level of stability.

The purpose of interferometer is to divide a single light beam into two separate ones so that the two beams follow different directions. But the atmosphere can cause vibrations in FT spectrometers, which can be bulky. These drawbacks prevent them from being effectively used in the UV-VIS spectral regions, which demand a high level of stability. While a broadband infrared source's wavelength is modulated by the FTIR spectrometer using an interferometer. Hence a detector determines how much light is transmitted or reflected in relation to its wavelength.
