When my friends and I arrived at the pristine and intimidating building in a posh area of
town, I thought it must be a mistake. This could not be our restaurant! But a glass and
metal sign outside the building confirmed it: we had arrived at the famed, "best-in-
America" Barrio Brothers' Bistro.
It's an understatement to say that we were pleasantly surprised when we went inside.
The colorful, cozy interior was bright and inviting. The friendly smiles of the staff
mirrored the warmth coming from the fire in the adobe fireplace. The tables scattered
around the main dining area were filled with smiling customers.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was the truly amazing and homey food. Every dish was a
creative and delicious fusion of French and Mexican cuisine, like onion soup topped with
jalapeño croutons or fish stew served in a crispy tortilla bowl. What a treat! Our
experience at Barrio Brothers' Bistro reminded us to never judge a book or a
restaurant-by its cover,
