Restrictive cardiomyopathy is usually caused by an infiltrative disease of the myocardium, such as amyloidosis, hemochromatosis, or glycogen storage disease.
In restrictive cardiomyopathy the lower chambers of the heart become stiff and hence cannot be filled with blood properly and sometimes they are also not able to squeeze out the blood properly. The general symptoms of this condition are: shortness of breath, palpitations, bloating, nausea, etc.
Myocardium is the middle muscular layer of the heart. It is the thickest layer that facilitates the contraction and relaxation of heart. They are also involved in the conduction of electrical impulses in the heart.
