Which one of the following choices most accurately describes the difference between anaerobic and aerobic reactions?
a. anaerobic reactions require oxygen and aerobic do not.
b. aerobic reactions require oxygen and anaerobic do not.
c. aerobic reactions break down glucose and anaerobic reactions break down protein.
d. aerobic and anaerobic reactions produce energy at the same rate.

Respuesta :

I believe the answer would be  aerobic reactions require oxygen and anaerobic do not. From the word, aerobic itself, it would mean that the process requires the presence of oxygen for it to happen while the opposite is called an anaerobic process.

The correct answer is option b, that is, aerobic reactions require oxygen and anaerobic do not.

Aerobic respiration refers to the procedure of generating cellular energy in the presence of oxygen. On the other hand, anaerobic respiration refers to the respiration involving electron acceptors other than molecular oxygen. It is respiration in the absence of oxygen.
