one of the rebellions that erupted throughout Latin America to overthrow Spanish colonial rule, left Mexico with an array of problems that touched upon events in the far northern Mexican province of Texas. Economically, the country faced devastation in 1821
Mexico achieved its independence in 1821, and the land that they received was, for the most part, the land that had been New Spain, including Spanish Texas. However, the capital remained in Mexico City. This meant that the region of Texas was very far from the administrative center. This made it difficult for the government to control or protect the territory. Therefore, Mexico wanted more settlers to move into the territory as they believed that a larger population would be more likely to be able to control the Comanche raids. This led a large group of US immigrants to move in to the territory of Texas.
