The population of a city is 2,500. If the number of males is 240 more than the number of females, how many males and females are there in the city? I need the answer with the explanation for 22 points.

2500 - 240 = 2260      
2260/2= 1130 or female count        1130 + 240 =  1370 or male count\
1370 + 1130 = 2500
