Total solar eclipse is a celestial phenomenon in which moon completely comes between earth and sun . In this situation the direct sun rays coming from sun to earth is blocked due to the presence of moon in between . This occurs on a new moon day .

When the earth comes between moon and sun , it is lunar eclipse . in lunar eclipse , the earth blocks the light falling on sun from moon . Lunar eclipse occurs on full moon day.
