Sputnik was the first man-made satellite (Soviet Union) to be launched into orbit. The Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs are both dealing with Cuba and its alliance with the Communist Soviet Union. The Berlin Wall was erected to separate the Western side of the city from the Communist side. All of these events take place in the post World War II era known as The Cold War
