Apprenticeships improved peoples statuses during the Middle Ages because it helped the job get done right so no one had to go back and do it again. People had to work their way up to a Master. It took many years to get to that point so that they knew exactly what they were doing. They also only worked at one guild in their life whether it was carpentry, stone mason, miller, tailor, armorer, or a blacksmith. Their career was decided by their ancestors before them.
