Muscle cells need a specific form of energy for contraction and cannot use the energy released directly from breaking down glucose or triglycerides. Rather, body cells must first convert food to adenosine triphosphate (ATP). <br /><br /> Food is digested and processed into ATP through sever different stages.

Energy is required by the body to carry out some daily functions. Muscle cells also require energy to carry out some of their functions.

Muscle cells can use the oxygen energy system to obtain energy

  • In order for muscle cells to aid in movement, they require energy which can be derived from the oxygen energy system.
