The answer is B: rising action.   A plot is a sequence of events in a story, showing cause and effect. It's the main part of a story. After the introduction of characters, comes the rising action, building up a series of events to the conflict. The events begin to get complicated because the tension or excitement can be noticed. But also, this is when the protagonist overcomes these obstacles.
