In 594 B.C.E., Solon was elected archon, or chief magistrate. As a reformist, he reduced the dominance of the Athenian aristocracy and improved the participation of ordinary citizens in the political arena, which contributed to the foundation of the Athenian democracy, for example, Solon created four social class groups based on their wealth which was measured according to their agricultural production. And according to the position, the person could have certain political rights, like participation in Athenian assembly and jury system, among others.
