The Second Great Awakening was (started) by Timothy Dwight... It spread (the ideas) of social reforms throughout the middle of the nineteenth century. (Among these ideas were reforms) such as women's rights, temperance, educational improvements, (the) ending of slavery, and better treatment of the mentally ill.
Quoted from Odyssey-ware using the ACE format: meaning I used a larger quote to say what I needed to say in a more understandable way using pieces of the original text. At least this is how my teachers have taught me to quote in high-school.
I've spent much time researching these topics and so along with that quote I will explain why is has to be the "Social Gospel movement" and not the others.
(The First Great Awakening, led by Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield, built a spirit of American nationalism in the lives of the colonists prior to the Revolution...(and this) spirit carried into the nineteenth century.)
