While in the hospital in peshawar, amir has a dream in which he sees his father wrestling a bear: "they roll over a patch of grass, man and beast . . . they fall to the ground with a loud thud and baby is sitting on the bear's chest, his fingers digging in its snout. he looks up at me, and i see. he's me. i am wrestling the bear." why is this dream so important?

While there are lots of means of how to interpret dreams in psychology, such as psychoanalysis, gestalt, etc, in Gestalt perspective, it means that Amir has a connection with his father (he might want to be like him or the opposite) while the bear represents 'the beast' in his life. That whatever comes through him, he wrestles them or attack them with the same manner as his father.
