Arabia held commercial relations with India since ancient times and since the beginning of Islamic expansion, the new religion arrived in the Indian subcontinent thanks to Muslim traders coming from Arabia. Even during the first century of life of Islam, the 7th century, Muslim traders settled in the Southern coast of India and established the first mosque of this region, the Cheraman Juma Mosque in Kerala, in the Southwestern coast of India.
