If you take away a predator, some parts of the ecosystem may overbreed, which in turn creates other parts of the ecosystem to be scarce because if those parts of the ecosystem (the ones that are overbred) eat other parts of the ecosystem, those parts will be eaten at a larger rate and become scarce. It just causes a chain reaction basically, and you do not want that happening. Think of it as dominos. You take the predator out (push the first domino) and everything falls along with it.
