No. Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams, who was actually kicked out by the Puritans in Massachusetts for his views on Native Americans and religious freedom. He became very good friends with the Native Americans in the Rhode Island area and so was given the land, instead of stealing it. He started Rhode Island (which is actually my favorite colony, but that's not the point :D). It was a colony that believed in complete freedom of religion, even for Native Americans.
