What is Nation-State?
Nation-State is a political unit where the nation and state are present together in congruent manner.
It is a large, politically sovereign country or administrative territory.
Nation- State is a discovery of 15th century based on discoveries in political economy, capitalism, mercantilism, political geography and geography.
For many, there exist a nation, followed with nationalist movement leading to sovereignty and finally nation state was created.
Some modern countries sees it from the lens of government policies by unifying and modernizing an already existing state.
The idea of a nation state was and is associated with the rise of the modern system of states, often called the "Westphalian system" in reference to the Treaty of Westphalia (1648).
The balance of power, which characterized that system, depended on its effectiveness upon clearly defined, centrally controlled, independent entities, whether empires or nation states, which recognize each other's sovereignty and territory.
The Westphalian system did not create the nation state, but the nation state meets the criteria for its component states (by assuming that there is no disputed territory).
Japan:
Japan is an island country located in east Asia or western Pacific Ocean.
Its a part of ring of fire and made of four major islands. Japan is the eleventh most populous country in the world and one of the most densely populated and urbanized.
About three-fourths of the country's terrain is mountainous, concentrating its population of 125.5 million on narrow coastal plains.
France:
France is a western European country, called as Metropolitan France, bordered by the North Sea in the north, the English Channel in the northwest, the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Mediterranean sea in the southeast.
France is a representative democracy organized as a unitary, semi-presidential republic.
Thus France and Japan are the example of nation-state.
