Yazoo land fraud was a scandal in which most of the land now making up the state of Mississippi was sold to four land companies for the sum of $500,000,which is far below its potential market value.
The fact that as a result of the Yazoo Land Fraud, the western boundary of Georgia was moved from the Mississippi River to the Chattahoochee River provides the best evidence that supports the conclusion that the Yazoo land fraud was one of the most influential factors in the establishment of Georgia borders.
