1) Industrialization- The availability of factory jobs enticed people to move to the city, as it allowed for a steady income.
2) The Great Migration- During the 1920's, many African-Americans from Southern states moved to the North. This movement was due to Jim Crow laws, violence against African-Americans by the KKK, etc. Even though these acts still took place in the North they were minimal in comparison to the South.
