Got stuck on this question for awhile

Write an expression for the sales tax on a car.

Tax rate is 6%, price is 1000 off the sticker price, $p.

I believe that you would just add 6% of 1000 to $1000, but you need an expression. Let's try this.
.06*1000=60
That's just the tax. If you need the whole price, use this.
1000+(.06*1000)=$1060
