The Canadian shield is centered around The Hudson Bay area, bordered to the east by the Appalachian fold belt, and to the west by the Interior Platform. The Canadian Shield is an area of exposed intrusive igneous rocks, primarily granite. This area contains major deposits of iron, gold, copper and nickel.
