1. Let f(x)=(34)x .
Let g(x)=(34)x−6 .

Which statement describes the graph of g(x) with respect to the graph of f(x) ?

A. g(x) is translated 6 units down from f(x) .
B. g(x) is translated 6 units up from f(x) .
C. g(x) is translated 6 units left from f(x) .
D. g(x) is translated 6 units right from f(x) .

2. Let f(x)=10x .

Which function represents a transformation of f(x) by a vertical stretch with factor 1.25?

A. g(x)=101.25x
B. g(x)=100.8x
C. g(x)=1.25⋅10x
D. g(x)=0.8⋅10x

Respuesta :

I thank no that the answer is d

Answer to question 1 would be g(x) is translated 6 units down from f(x)

When the number at the end is subtraction and it is outside of the parenthesis

then you are dealing with a translation of x units down.

If you were adding the 6 to x it would be a translation of 6 units up.

Now the same applies with left to right but the difference with that is if x is subtracted or added to 6 in the same parenthesis.

So process of elimination leads us to answer A for question 1.

Question 2. The answer would be C.

When dealing with vertical stretch you would have to be multiplying the factor to g(x).

When dealing with vertical compression you would need to do y=1/a f(x)

Process of elimination leads us to Answer choice C
