This mutant DNA sequence is the result of a TRANSVERSION.
Transversion, in biology, is the substitution of a purine and pyrimidine or
vice versa. In this case we can see that GTA was replaced by GTC therefore
Adenine (purine) for a Cytosine (pyrimidine).
The effect of this substitution in the amino acid sequence is
called a nonsense mutation. Because nonsense mutation means that it has an
incorrect sequence which causes shortening of protein.
